I'm impressed by the quality of the charts - far better than those of other software programs. But I'm unable to find a left-to-right descendant chart rather than a top-to-bottom one as offered. A left-to-right descendant chart is ususally more economical in terms of spacing and paper and is what I would prefer. Is this option available?

Geoff Rasmussen

Robert, this option is not yet available but is high on the To Do List.

Hmmmm. FREE Quality charts? It sounds almost anti-American, but I'm grateful. I really appreciate that it accepts GEDCOM files. Kudos to Legacy! I'm on my way over there to secure my copy.

There are some nice options included in this new package. Unfortunately, I don't see a combination bowtie-hourglass chart -- which seems to the most popular request lately.

Linda Ritchey

I love this program! It is a perfect companion to digital scrapbooking!
Finally a program that allows you to create a chart that can be imported into another program to create a scrapbook page that can be printed to fit into your photo album. I'll definitely be purchasing this!

Helena Howell

You state that Legacy charts are compatible with Family Tree Maker, but no mention of which versions of FTM. Is it compatible with Version 11?

Geoff Rasmussen

Helena, it is compatible with all versions of FTM except FTM 2008. For people with FTM 2008, a GEDCOM could be created with it, and then used in Legacy Charting.

R. Faulkner

I'm a Mac user - if I create a GEDCOM in Reunion, will it be usable in Legacy Charting?

Dick Eastman

Yes. GEDCOM was designed to exchange genealogy information between dissimilar computers and is operating system independent. You can create GEDCOM files in Windows, Macintosh, Linux, UNIX or perhaps other operating systems and then be able to read the files on any of the other operating systems.

I use Legacy 6 and this charting add-on is really good
BUT...
in one branch I have cousins marrying. The decendant chart duplicates every decendant since. Very frustrating!

Brian

Suppressing duplicate lines is one of the items still on the to do list for Legacy charting.

The following is an extract of a post by Geoff Rasmussen on 26 March when an update to the Pre-Release Version of Legacy Charting was issued.

"Still to come

Thank you for all your suggestions of new functionality. We are listening and will implement your suggestions as Legacy Charting evolves. These are among the top requests:

Add the left-to-right Descendancy chart
Add the all-in-one chart
Add the option to not split boxes at page breaks
Add the Undo button
Suppress duplicate lines
Complete the chart ordering service
Option for short-location names
Improved "quoted" names
Many more..."
