The eogn.com web site has been plagued with certificate errors in recent weeks. Any attempt to read the Plus Edition online or to subscribe to the Plus Edition or to renew an existing subscription was met with an “SSL certificate error” message. The root cause was an expired SSL certificate. I obtained a new certificate but could not get it to work. The hosting service wasn't much help; they never got it to work either.
I fired that hosting service.
The www.eogn.com pages have been moved to a new web server. This newsletter is now running on a dedicated server; I do not share this server with anyone else. The new certificate works perfectly on the new hosting service. I don't believe you will see any more certificate errors.
Along the way, the Plus Edition pages have been completely re-designed and are actually hosted on still another server. I hope you like the new “look and feel” of the Plus Edition subscribers' pages. They may change just a bit more as I learn to use a new interface. To see the new pages, go to http://plus.eogn.com and enter your e-mail address and password.
Note: The old Plus Edition pages asked for a user name. That has now been replaced; you enter the e-mail address you used when subscribing. The password remains the same as before. If you do not remember your password, there is a provision to have it sent to you in e-mail within seconds. Simply go to the same place (http://plus.eogn.com) and click on “Forgot password.”
I have tested the new pages quite a bit but may have overlooked something. If you see a “broken link” or other problem, please report it.
Thank you.

It may be I am not used to the new display but feel it's not as smooth flowing as your old site. Feel it should open with the latest articles then have links on side top to older ones.

Hi Dick,
Looks good - but this link did not work.
The requested URL /eastmans_online_genealogy/2008/03/nara-makes-some.html was not found on this server.

I have a web site, so I fully understand the problems with ISPs. Mr. Eastman, as long as your editorial don't suffer in quality, I'll remain an avid reader. And, as my high school English teacher said to me, "Just keep it up, young man!"
Happy Dae.

Dick,
It's always tough making a move, but I really like your new site, colors and logo. Hopefully a dedicated server will eliminate your problems and you'll have no more growth pains.
Did want to mention 2 things:
1. The terms of use we have to agree to at http://www.wildapricot.com/termsofuse.aspx are ridiculous and you should replace them with your own more reasonable list.
2. Your last newsletter sent today (May 16) got marked as Spam by SpamAssassin with a total score of 5.4 (> 5.0 = spam), made up of the following:
* -0.0 SPF_HELO_PASS SPF: HELO matches SPF record
* -0.0 SPF_PASS SPF: sender matches SPF record
* 0.0 DKIM_POLICY_SIGNSOME Domain Keys Identified Mail: policy says domain
* signs some mails
* 0.3 SARE_WEOFFER BODY: Offers Something
* 0.3 SARE_MILLIONSOF BODY: Millions of something.
* 0.0 HTML_MESSAGE BODY: HTML included in message
* 0.0 BAYES_50 BODY: Bayesian spam probability is 40 to 60%
* [score: 0.5000]
* 0.0 HTML_FONT_SIZE_LARGE BODY: HTML font size is large
* 1.4 MIME_QP_LONG_LINE RAW: Quoted-printable line longer than 76 chars
* 0.1 RDNS_NONE Delivered to trusted network by a host with no rDNS
* 1.2 ADVANCE_FEE_2 Appears to be advance fee fraud (Nigerian 419)
* 1.4 ADVANCE_FEE_3 Appears to be advance fee fraud (Nigerian 419)
* 0.6 ADVANCE_FEE_4 Appears to be advance fee fraud (Nigerian 419)
You'll definitely want to fix this up. I have no idea why SpamAssassin scores, so I'm afraid you're on your own to determine what needs to be changed.

---> The terms of use we have to agree to ... are ridiculous and you should replace them with your own more reasonable list.
Agreed. Only I cannot replace them, only the hosting company can do that. Obviously, that's one item that needs to be changed. (I have a few more things I'd like to see changed, also. However, this service came closer to my needs than anyone else I could find.)
---> Your last newsletter sent today (May 16) got marked as Spam by SpamAssassin...
Nothing changed in the way the newsletter was sent. It was sent in exactly the same manner it has been sent for the past 3 or 4 years. I do plan on changing it in about 2 or 3 months after the hosting service makes a major change on their mail server.

Hi Dick,
The RSS feed is no longer valid.

Looks like the RSS feed is broken.

The change seems to have lost me. I'm still getting the weekly newsletter, but if I try to sign into the plus board, I'm told that there's no such person in the database.
I did send an email with full details.

>The change seems to have lost me. I'm still getting the weekly newsletter, but if I try to sign into the plus board, I'm told that there's no such person in the database.<
This is probably the same thing that happened to me - the Plus Board has a new URL now and using the old bookmark to try and get there gives the "there's no person in the database" message.
As noted in Dick's post, which I didn't read closely enough or at least absorb when I read it, there's a new URL for the Plus Board
http://plus.eogn.com
Go to that and enter your current mail address and password and you'll get right in I expect. When you do, delete your old bookmark(s) and add that new one.

Roger is correct: when new software is installed, bookmarks often change. Make sure you start first on ths newsletter's home page at http://www.eogn.com and click on "Subscribe to the Plus Edition.
That will take you to the correct place.
Using out-of-date bookmarks will fail.

I have not received this week's (March 17) issue of the Plus Newsletter. A link to it appears on the web site but the newsletter is blank.

This week's Plus Edition newsletter is available online and has been read by several hundred people. In the menus to the right side of this screen, click on "Read the Plus Edition." That will take you to the Plus Edition subscribers' section. Of course, you will have to sign in with your e-mail address and password.
(If you have forgotten your password, go to the same place and click on "Forgot your password?"

I am having the same problem as the previous commentor--the RSS Feed is not functioning.

Received the 17 March Plus Edition as usual but when I tried to transfer to the new setup, it came up OK but would not bring up the 17 March issue when selected. Nothing happened. I'm going back to the regular format and finish. I did like your presentation on the new setup.
