On the Road Again, This Time to Kansas City

Traveling I am headed out again this week. I will attend the annual conference of the National Genealogical Society. This year's event is being held in Kansas City.

This will be my twentieth NGS conference. I have attended all the NGS conferences in the past twenty-one years except for the one held in 1995. It will be interesting to contrast this year's event against those of former years. This year's event should have 1,500 or more attendees as well as 100 or so vendors. Attendees are expected from all over the United States plus a few from Canada, and I know of one from England who plans to be there. Exhibitors likewise will be from all over the U.S. as well as from Canada, Ireland, and England.

As always, travel is high risk for an online junkie like myself. I will be traveling with several laptop computers, a wireless modem and a digital camera. I hope to post newsletter articles and perhaps a few pictures while at the event. However, the computer gods do not always smile favorably on such efforts. There certainly is a risk of no new articles being posted to this newsletter while I am in Kansas City. That could be a sign of technical difficulties or it might simply indicate that I am busy. Either way, I expect to have plenty to write about when I return.

Dick,
Since I live in the Kansas City area, I will be attending my first National Genealogical Society Conference. I plan on attending as many educational sessions as possible while I have the chance, but do hope to meet you and visit a short time. I've been a subscriber to your newsletters since about 1995, shortly after I got into genealogy.
Looking forward to meeting you in person,

George Madden

Dick,

This is also my first NGS conference. I live in St. Louis area and drove in early to use NARA facility and disappoint that the weather prevented Mid-Contenent Libary from being completed. Although I have only subscribed to your newsletter for 2 years, I always learn something and am thrilled that you have George Morgan writing for this publication. I have taken some online classes from him. I know you will be swamped by your fans but I hope to introduce myself.

Jackie (Clancy) Grah

Dick,

This will be my first NGS Conference. I live in Ricmond MO. area approximately 45 miles from Kansas City. I have signed up for several classes as time permits and retired budget allows. Hope to see you at the conference, especially at footnote.com booth. I need to learn a little more about footnote.com sight.
