I have written before about the Who Do You Think You Are? LIVE! exhibition held in London. (See http://blog.eogn.com/eastmans_online_genealogy/2007/05/national_histor.html and http://blog.eogn.com/eastmans_online_genealogy/2008/05/wdytyal---day-3.html.) The first ever exhibition by that organization was held in May of 2007, and this year's event was held twelve months later: May 2 through 4 of this year. The organizers have now announced that there will be still another exhibition next year, but the dates will be changed. In fact, it will be held much earlier in the year: mid-winter.
Who Do You Think You Are? LIVE will take place next year in London from 27th Feb - 1st March 2009. Full details will be available soon at http://www.whodoyouthinkyouarelive.co.uk.
I have to wonder if this is a good change or a bad one. Many people stay at home in the winter, even in England's mild climate. That might discourage local attendees. On the other hand, those of us from overseas locations might be encouraged to attend because of the off-season airfares and hotel rates in mid-winter. The savings might add up to several hundred pounds.
In any case, the organizers reportedly did not have much choice. The Olympia Exhibition Hall was already booked for the first weekend of May 2009. The organizers had to either schedule the heritage fair on a different weekend or at a different venue. Given how well the Olympia Exhibition Hall has worked in the past, the organizers obviously elected to change the dates.
You might want to mark your calendar now for 27th Feb - 1st March 2009.
