This week sees the start of the fifth series of the BBC's Who Do You Think You Are?. This popular genealogy television program features both celebrities and genealogy. It has proven to be quite a hit.
You can read my many past articles about this television program at http://tinyurl.com/6ruez7.
U.K. celebrities featured in past shows have included Julian Clary, Jeremy Paxman, Stephen Fry, Barbara Windsor, Bill Oddie, Jeremy Irons, Nigella Lawson and Jeremy Clarkson. The one-hour shows will feature Patsy Kensit in the first show of the new season, followed by Boris Johnson the next week. Later shows will feature Esther Rantzen and Jerry Springer.
A note to American readers: those names may not be familiar to Americans but are all well-known in the U.K. Hmmm, that last name sounds familiar, however.
You can read more at http://www.bbc.co.uk/familyhistory.
I recognize a number of the names.
Somewhat off topic... If anyone is a Doctor Who fan, this show has done research detailing the background of David Tennant.
Jerry Springer I can see the BBC doing him due to America's Got Talent being broadcast in Britain.
Surprised to see a couple of names in that listing. I have seen the one on Nigella Lawson and David Tennant
