Thanks, Dick. I went immediately to this site and found my grandfather, his brother--in-law, and the brother-in-law's wife.

I searched the database and found one potential relative who immigrated to the US from Sweden. It said he entered Canada at Halifax, which is quite possible.

But I did not find any relatives who immigrated to Canada from the US, entering Canada from Minnesota or North Dakota. The writeup clearly implies that those people should be listed. It appears that only people who arrived in Canada by Ship are included.

Thanks. Trying to find land border crossings from Canada to Maine about 1886 - 1890. Can't find at Ancestry.com. Any more suggestions?

I am so thankfull for these Canadian Records on Ancestry. I have been looking for the immigration record of my Russian grandfather for over 20 years. I even hired a professinal researcer and nothing! Then in one try on the 14 day free trial I found his immigration record. He had come to the US by way of Quebec, Canada! Then I also found my Polish grandmother after the same amount of time researching on their newly posted records. A real windfall. Thank you Ancestry.

I found my grandfather's family within minutes. I kept going through the list for that ship and found my grandfather's brother and his family. Eight McGraths came over on the same boat. Next, I put my dad's uncle's name in and found him too and after putting in that man's wife's name, I found her and one child six months later. In each case, their ultimate destination in Canada was shown and that jibes with the facts I already had. The next mystery to unravel is where did they land? The passenger lists show the ships stopping at Quebec and Montreal. Montreal would have made sense but what makes sense to me doesn't necessarily make sense to officialdom. Thanks Dick. Another knot untied.
