GenealogyBlog.com and GermanMapGuide.com are Offline

Leland While setting up a booth in the Exhibits Hall at the FGS Conference in Philadelphia, I met Leland Meitzler, owner of the well-known GenealogyBlog.com and of GermanMapGuide.com. He asked me to let folks know that his two web sites are offline and probably will remain offline for a few days.

Leland's sites are offline, apparently because of a problem with either the hosting service or with the service he uses to create the web sites. Because he has been riding airplanes and is setting up a booth at a major genealogy conference, Leland has not been able to talk with the right folks to get the problem(s) resolved. He does expect to do that shortly, however.

He also muttered something about "raising the roof" but I'll wait for the sites to come back online and then I'll let Leland fill you in on that detail...

In the meantime, any attempt to access either www.genealogyblog.com or www.GermanMapGuide.com will result in a "Site Not Found" error. Please check back in a few days.

Thank you for telling me about this. I visit his site frequently and the last couple days have been a problem. It seemed like the hosting server was down based on some of the error messages. Wouldn't you know something like this would happen when on the road and very busy with promoting the site.
I hope you all have a great time at the conference.

This helpful site is still off line as of 08 Sept 2008 EDST. Must have had problems 'raising the roof'. H.

Still can't get into the blog as of 17 Sept.

This site still is not working as of September 24. What is going on? I really enjoy what Leland has to say.

Still not working as of October 6.

Any idea when this site is going to be up- this is November 07, 2008? Thanks, Pat

i tried posting on genealogy.com and a page came up that said that genealogy.com server had an internal error.so the whole site must be down.guess i won,t be using genealogy.com anymore.
