NEWS OF THE 1911 CENSUS
Next year will see the eagerly awaited opening of a brand new census for England and Wales. The 1911 census has details of over 36 million people resident in England, Wales, the Channel Islands and Isle of Man, as well as, for the first time, a full enumeration of the British Army serving overseas. It is the most detailed census ever produced and is an amazing resource for family, house and local historians. The first e-newsletterupdate about the project will be sent out shortly. To make sure you receive your copy, you can pre-register now at http://www.1911census.co.uk/ - the official website of the 1911 census for England and Wales.
Hi,
The progress been made by the the National Archives at Kew, in preparing for the issue of the 1911 British Census, is most heart warming to us amature family researchers..
Now if only the Irish National archives could make the same progress?? Can you please, please, using your good offices try and get a progress update on when, after 10 months we still have not seen any movement online with the rest of the Irish 1911 census, not to mention the 1901 census?
Is the issue of the 1911 & 1901 Irish National Census project's been sabataged, with the withdrawal of funds? In the hope that we will all be forced to use the services of the Irish family History Foundation, at theit over valued costs of 5 Euros per line view?
A statement from the Irish Minister conserned with the responability for the Irish National Archives, would be most assuring.
