Friends of Suddie "Bill" Mumford will want to know about his hospitalization. Bill has been well known for his "Genealogical Software Report Card" although he did stop updating that a while ago. He has been having serious back problems over the past year.
Here is a note that Gordon Hulbert posted to the AFHS distribution list:
I just spoke to Evelyn Mumford. Bill has moved from the Calgary Hospital and is now in the Black Diamond Hospital. Currently, things are not too good. He is a paraplegic. Immediately after the operation, he could wiggle his toes. After some x-rays, he couldn't. However, with extensive therapy in [Black Diamond], they hope to see improvement.
I'm sure it's safe to say that Bill is a good friend to all of us. His contribution to our society has been unparalleled. I pray that he once again will be up and around and join in on our activities.
Dick--
Thank you for posting this. Mr Mumford's "Genealogical Software Report Card" was a herculean work of dedication and genius, and it still retains great value. There is nothing that comes close to it in the genealogy community IMO. My thoughts and prayers are with him.
