The folks at Footnote have agreed to let me offer you a great deal: $10 off their annual subscription price. That's a discounted price of $59.95 in place of the normal $69.95 subscription fee, roughly a 14% discount. This special price is good only until the end of October.
Unlike some of its competitors, Footnote.com allows you to roam around the web site and search all of its databases free of charge. You are asked to pay only when you go to look at a full-sized image of an original document. You can see a thumbnail of the document for free; but, to see the document in a readable format, you must either pay or enter a username and password from a subscription account.
In addition, much of the content on Footnote is completely free, such as all user-contributed pages, the Pennsylvania State Archives collection, the Continental Congress Papers, Project Blue Book, World War II Air Force Photos, and much more. You can see a full list of all the collections, including those that are available free of charge, by going to http://go.footnote.com/familyhistory.php/?xid=343&t=EOGN and clicking on "much more."
Here's what I suggest:
Go to the Footnote.com web site and look around for a while. I'd suggest searching for a few surnames and for a few places on interest. Peruse the list of collections. Then, if you decide to subscribe, come back to this message and click on the following link to obtain the special discounted subscription for readers of this newsletter: http://go.footnote.com/familyhistory.php/?xid=343&t=EOGN.
Again, this offer expires on October 31.
Is this offer for new subscribers only? If available to current Footnote subscribers, please advise on how we handle this.

Thanks for the discount offer. My subscription was to expire next week. I've just renewed at the lower rate. When I logged on to Footnote my name and other info was on the page for subscribing and they showed my card payment as a renewal.
