The Hurricane and the RootsMagic Cruise
As Maxwell Smart would say, "Missed it by THAT much!"
Actually, we missed it by nine or ten days. However, anyone who was on the recent RootsMagic genealogy cruise might like to read the news about a hurricane that is presently raging over Baja California. Look at the article and especially at the map at http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/7665021.stm.
We were there last week, folks!
I have been on that cruise with Carnival before and ran into trouble going from Mazatlan to Cabo San Lucas. We did not have any Hurricane trouble, but had two named Tropical depression. The ride from Mazatlan to Cabo San Lucas was at best bumpy. We were unable to stop at Cabo, since the seas were too rough to load the smaller boats to go to shore. We were told that to make up the stop we would disembark at Ensenada, but mother nature play havoc and one propeller and the stabilizers went out, which left us to pitch from side to side until we traveled north away from the storm. Stabilizers return, but we missed the opportunity to visit Ensenada, since the boat was traveling at a slower speed. Puerto Vallartawas the one port we enjoyed the most. There are two zip lines, recommend the southern most one.
