New customers can get even better prices by joining a surname or geographic project at FTDNA. That does not minimize the value of this association, though. Anything that increases awareness and acceptance of the role of genetic genealogy is welcome.

How do I go about finding the discount? The page that was given in the article - http://www.familytreedna.com/cj.aspx?ftdna_ref=392 - automatically reverts to the home page. That page with 392 at the end doesn't come up. I have not been able to find any discount mentioned. Doris mentioned gettng a discount if you join a new surname project, but I can't find information on that either. Thanks for any help. Jan

The page given in the article takes you directly to the discount page. The top of the page says, "Special Pricing For MyHeritage.com Users."

The "ftdna_ref=392" part of the URL usually is used to track the referrer of the link, the FROM site. In this case, EOGN. Often there is a commission assigned when a visitor opts to purchase the service. Nothing wrong with THAT, either, since Mr. Eastman provides us with a free newsletter.

The link given in the story does lead to the page with the discounted prices when I click on it.
As far as the surname discounts are concerned, you can get to the surname projects by clicking on the PROJECTS button on the top line of the Family Tree DNA page. You can type in a surname of interest, or click on the lists of projects. Note that clicking on a box that is titled A139 for example will give you a list of 139 projects beginning with the letter A.

In the second to last paragraph in above public announcement (About MyHeritage), it states MyH is the [world's] "second largest family history web site". Any guesses at to who's the largest, ie. Number one??
