The following announcement was written by Eneclann:
Eneclann, Ireland’s leading e-publisher of historical and heritage titles, has launched a new CD-ROM. This new title provides access to a little known primary source at The National Archives of Ireland and will be of immense value to the growing number of people in Ireland and abroad interested in Irish genealogy and Irish history.
At a time when Ireland is commemorating the deaths of so many Irishmen and women in the Great War 1914-1918, Eneclann are releasing 'World War I Irish Soldiers, Their Final Testament' (An Index to the Wills of Irish Soldiers who died 1914-1918) compiled and edited by Kiara Gregory. The index lists over 9,000 of the surviving wills including copious personal details as well as their place and date of death, but also details beneficiaries and relatives. Sometimes included are witnesses, one of the most notable being 2nd Lieutenant John “Jack” Kipling, son of Rudyard Kipling, who fought and died with the Irish Guards. This publication is a tribute to their sacrifice but also sheds light on the realities and details of their death.
This important new publication confirm Eneclann’s continued commitment to increasing access to rare and valuable sources of historical and genealogical information.
