Arrived in Auckland
I did finally arrive in Auckland, New Zealand at 4:30 AM local time, after a 12-hour flight from Los Angeles. If any of the organizers of the AFFHO conference are reading this, I'll see you tomorrow after I crash in the hotel and try to adjust my internal bio-clock to the time zone differences.
My sympathies....we've just returned from two weeks away which included (among our several flights) a 13 hour jaunt to Korea and ten hour flight back. Excruciating! How are your legs?

The legs are fine. It was a 12-hour flight from Los Angeles to Auckland but I slept off and on most of the time. It wasn't bad at all.

Husband and I did same LAX to Auckland in 2005, but on separate planes! I was on Air New Zealand and he on Qantas. Since I arrived earlier, I checked out the local pubs, so he wouldn't have to waste time. Re genealogy, if you meet a Maureen West, she is my husband's 5th cousin and a very well-known genealogist in NZ. In 2006 she was invited to make an oral history presentation in London for the Oral History Association/Society ... which she did. Her father was a prisoner of war in Italy during WWII (and escaped), and she has an extensive collection of data referring to the experience, as well as oral history. Hope you meet this fascinating woman.
