WASHINGTON, March 12 -- In celebration of its 75th anniversary, the National Archives will host its annual preservation conference entitled Digitizing for Preservation and Access: Past is Prologue, on Thursday, March 26, 2009. Adrienne Thomas, Acting Archivist of the United States, and Dr. Michael J. Kurtz, Assistant Archivist, Office of Records Services, will provide opening remarks for the event. The conference will be held in the William G. McGowan Theater of the National Archives Building in Washington, DC, which is located on Constitution Ave. between 7th and 9th Streets NW, and is fully accessible.
Formal presentations will include:
- Digitization approaches;
- Federal guidelines and approaches to long-term management;
- Archival and preservation preparation for digitizing records;
- Public interface and providing access;
- Case studies in digitization from a variety of institutions.
