Police in Salt Lake City are investigating a burglary at 15 E South Temple Street, Salt Lake City. That is the Joseph Smith Memorial Building which is owned by the Mormon Church and serves several functions, including that of headquarters of FamilySearch. A high-quality surveillance video is available online. You can watch the thief in action.
On Saturday, March 14, the man was seen on surveillance video around 2:20 p.m. in a private fifth-floor office at the building at 15 E. South Temple.
Investigators believe the man got in through an emergency exit and, once inside, was able to steal a laptop computer.
Ever since, police have been investigating, and now they are releasing surveillance video in hopes someone will recognize the man.
He can be seen in the video looking for something to steal and, then about a minute later, takes off his backpack and slips a laptop computer in it before walking away.
