Speaker Information:
The emphasis for 2009 will be learning the technology to successfully research whole families. We want presentations directed to beginners, experienced, and advanced researchers. We are also looking for classes directed towards those desiring to become teachers (such as family history consultants, librarians, and speakers). We are looking for some great topics in the following areas:
- Basic Online for Beginners
- Organizational Software for Beginners
- Internet and Email for Beginners
- General Research Skills, Analysis, & Organization for all levels of experience
- Specific Topics for the Experienced Researcher
- In Depth Topics for the Advanced Researcher
You may submit up to 8 subjects at a time. Please include the name of the specific Expo you would like your topics to be considered for. If you are submitting for more than one event please make a separate submission for each event.
In order to keep attendance costs to a minimum Family History Expos does not pay speakers or reimburse for food, travel, or lodging expenses. You will, however, receive the full Expo registration free, an Expo syllabus on CD, and a gift pack.

Agreement:
I would like to be considered as a speaker at an upcoming Family History Expo.
With my submission I will include:
- Name, company, address, preferred email, and phone number.
- Personal biography of 50 words or less
- Digital photo to be posted with bio for online schedule
- Up to eight class titles with a brief one paragraph description and the level of expertise (beginner, experienced, or advanced) for each, see sample and expertise definitions below
- Handout materials in text format for inclusion in our syllabus
- Detail any special considerations you may need
As a speaker I will be responsible for setting up my own room displays/equipment according to the schedule provided and will abide with common courtesy to the other speakers and stay within the allotted time of my assigned speaking schedule. I will abide by all of the policies/regulations established by the event Convention Center. Any problems I have will be directed to the Event Coordinator, Holly Hansen, or a designated representative.
I am aware that a podium, microphone, and small table will be provided. However, no Internet connection, no LCD or overhead projectors will be provided (unless otherwise noted on event page) and I will need to provide my own if desired.
I am aware that I will receive no financial compensation for speaking.
If I am unable to attend an Expo I have been accepted to present at, I will contact Family History Expos.com (801-829-3295) as soon as possible to give them ample time to make other arrangements.
Sample Class Titles and Descriptions:a. Online Pedigree Charts and Other Great Forms (Beginner)
This class will focus on using various charts and forms to aid in the process of basic research. It will guide the student into a path leading to proper analysis of information as they move through the research process. Examples of different forms will be presented.b. The Ethnic Experience (Experienced)
This lecture will focus on US migration routes and settlement patterns. We will examine ethnic and religious migrations and identify the key record sources and maps needed to help you discover your ancestor's movements in America and to accurately document their lives. Many online resources will be investigated.
c. Beyond the Basics to Success (Experienced-Advanced)
The focus of this class is on mastering US probate records. We will explore testate vs. intestate estates, types of wills, unrecorded wills, probate proceedings and the myriad related records including administrations, petitions, bonds, inventories, accounts, property divisions, publications, releases, guardianships and a vast number of miscellaneous records.
Expertise Definitions:
(Beginner) ~ Just getting started with family history research or a new research subject
(Experienced) ~ Have spent time doing research already, familiar with some of the tools, eager to learn more
(Advanced) ~ Could teach a class or give personal assistance to a beginner, experienced, or advanced researcher
