Biblio is a book search engine which indexes more than 50 million books from over 5,500 independent bookstores. You can find everything from rare first editions to books which are less rare but still definitely out of print. You can search for used, rare, and out of print books as well as textbooks. I used Biblio today to search for out of print genealogy books. I really looked at the site out of curiosity but I guess it was more effective than I had expected: I bought a book.
Biblio.com represents a consortium of thousands of independent bookstores and booksellers in over 50 countries around the globe. The site serves as an online catalog, "clearinghouse," and order processing system for all the stores. You can search this one centralized database, place an order, and the books you order are then shipped from the individual book stores.
In my case, I found a genealogy book that I have seen before but I did not own a copy. I was impressed to see that it was selling for only eleven dollars so I ordered it for my personal library. A few minutes after placing the order via a safe and secure online shopping cart system, I received a confirmation e-mail that also told me I could expect to receive the book in about ten to fourteen days.
Simple to use, safe and secure, along with effective results. I'd call that a winner!
To search for any out-of-print books, including genealogy books, go to http://www.biblio.com.
I found the book I was looking for on Biblio.com! Unfortunately, the lowest price for it's purchase was $436.49. At this time I'll have to pass.

This could be a valuable resource for finding family histories that are long out of print. Thanks for letting us know about it. There are several books on my list I'd like to use the site to try to find!

Two other book sites are www.abe.com and www.alibris.com. Perhaps you've already written about them, but I don't remember seeing them.
