I love government pork barrel programs, even the ones with a slight genealogy connection. Writing in the Family Roots and Branches Genealogy blog, Gayle Van Horn describes an $8.7-Million government "cultural exchange program" to connect whalers in Massachusetts with their whaling ancestors in Alaska and Hawaii. My thanks to Larry Van Horn for telling me about this one.
