Wilbraham, Massachusetts is looking for a town archivist. The position that has been vacant since longtime town archivist Coralie M. Gray died in 2007.
The town archivist serves as a coordinator between local agencies which have care of historical materials and documents, such as the town clerk, the Wilbraham Public Library, the Atheneum Society and the Historical Commission.
Selectmen Chairman David W. Barry said he would like the new appointee to become familiar with the archival holdings of the various town departments and private organizations and identify issues related to long-term storage and access. "We are looking for someone who can understand the historical context of our documents and suggest policies for the care of the archives or maybe even develop public programs," Barry said.
