The following announcement was written by Synium Software:
MacFamilyTree 5.6 has just been released and as always, the update brings a plethora of new features. By introducing a novelty in the genealogy market, the Virtual Tree, one year ago we revolutionized the way you approach all the branches of your family tree. Now, with version 5.6, this unique feature has been rebuilt incorporating several customer requests. Navigate through the three-dimensional representation of your family data and dive into your family history.
Let MacFamilyTree single out specific branches for you, see your ancestors' photos instead of generic symbols and enjoy the tremendous speed improvements for large trees. Even older Macs gain performance thanks to the improvements.
What else? The extended media management. Select persons on your family pictures and assign them to entries in your database: persons, families, events or sources. This feature comes in handy when you start identifying your family members on those old group shots. Draw a rectangle on the photo and tell MacFamilyTree who that person is. This cut-out is automatically added to that person's profile.
Bookmarks have been enhanced, allowing you direct access to your Media Library. Last but not least, you can edit your images within the Media Pane, letting you crop, change hue, brightness, shrapness and reduce noise.
The virtual Globe features new maps with higher resolution while simultaneously increasing the processing speed on older machines.
You are interested in trying out MacFamilyTree 5.6? Just download the new version! MacFamilyTree 5.6 is a free update for existing customers.

Does this program transfer the Record Identification Number (RIN) with a Windows Gedcom?

All my data is in Family Tree Maker. Can this data be transferred to the new MAC program without any problems? I am considering purchasing an IMAC in the next few months. Also, does it come with an instruction manual as I have never used anything than FTM. aufan1958@yahoo.com

Yes. You can move your data to most any other modern genealogy program, including MacFamilyTree.
Family Tree Maker (and most other genealogy programs) will export your data in GEDCOM format. You can then copy this file to your new computer and import the GEDCOM file into any modern genealogy program, including MacFamilyTree.
For details, see my earlier article, "GEDCOM Explained," at http://blog.eogn.com/eastmans_online_genealogy/2008/08/gedcom-explaine.html
