Wow, this really sucks, especially for someone trying to get into the field of journalism…not to mention the 1,000 people or more that are losing their jobs. :(

Yo no comprendo. Don't journalists also need access to the best research tools available? The availability of digital archives of yesterday's news is not any part of the problem facing those trying to break into the field of journalism.

Note that Proquest has two services. This one is Proquest Newsstand, which includes only current and recent newspapers. Their other service, Proquest Historical Newspapers, is of more interest to genealogists, but includes far fewer newspapers.

When determining if a local library has a subscription, remember to specify which Proquest service you are inquiring about.
