The Public Record Office of Northern Ireland (PRONI) in Belfast is currently working on a project to relocate its business to new purpose built accommodation. The current premises are out-dated and no longer fit for the purpose intended. The new premises will be located at Titanic Boulevard, Titanic Quarter, Belfast. The site is close to the Odyssey and adjacent to the Gateway building.
PRONI is still open to vistors at the old location for the time being. However, the new premises are scheduled for completion in late 2010. The offices are expected to close in late summer or in the autumn of 2010 while the records are being moved.
Any change in service will be advertised well in advance. If you are planning a trip in 2010 to Northern Ireland for genealogy research, you might want to keep a close eye on PRONI's homepage at http://www.proni.gov.uk.
