I have written a number of times (http://www.google.com/cse?cx=003715150024579880844%3Aulyzue1ivzu&ie=UTF-8&q=Skype&sa=Search) about Skype and other low-cost or no-cost services that provide voice calls over the Internet. This morning's news says that Skype has now been sold by eBay to a group of investors for $2 billion. Not a bad price for a service that primarily gives its services away free of charge! Of course, eBay PAID $2.6 billion for Skype nearly four years ago.
The group of investors that is acquiring Skype includes Marc Andreessen, co-founder of Netscape.
