This tombstone shows a picture of a Mr. and Mrs. Davis with what probably was a major item in their lives: a stock car. Having the race car also pictured on the tombstone is a nice touch, in my opinion. However, if it was my tombstone, I think I would have left off the logo of one of the commercial sponsors.

That's a great tombstone, Dick. You should see the ones in the "Key West Cemetary" -- and yes, the name over the iron gate is spelled that way. Among the great markers there are the one for the "World's Greatest Julio Iglesias Fan" and the famous one with the epitaph, "I Told You I Was Sick."

The #6 Viagra car was driven by Mark Martin in the early 2000s, and if you're a big enough fan to have your tombstone made in the shape of the car, including all the sponsors so it's a true representation is all part of it I guess.

Especially where her nickname is "Hood" I wonder if they were more involved with the car/team than just as fans. One way or another, I think I would have picked a different sponsor to be memorialized by. But it is beautifully done.

You may already know about it, but another fun cemetery is Mt. Olivet in Hugo, OK. My roommate and I spent an hour or so some years ago walking among the graves of numerous circus performers, many with elaborate and unique headstones.
The place is mentioned here (http://www.roadsideamerica.com/story/10433) with a few pictures of the place and some of its history.

Everyone to his/her own tastes. Wonder if their front yard looked liked this.

If you're interested in unusual tombstones, then you may want to check out Hope Cemetery in Barre Vermont.

Was Viagra even invented in 1958?

What a tasteless memorial. Not to mention dismissive of the feelings of the families who have loved ones laid to rest near this monstrosity. These people should be ashamed of themselves (but I know they're not). It truly does reflect the nadir of American society. Very sad....

If her nickname was "Hood" one can only guess at what his was! I'm recalling the words to "Baby Driver". . . .
At one local rural cemetery there has been so much crap put on gravesites lately they have had to make a new law. One of them had so much junk on and around it it looked like a living room, including a large metal bookcase and plenty of seating.

NASCAR's Ford 6 Viagra car was Mark Martin's car for many years before he changed companies and is now with #5. Car #6 is considered one of the top 5 legends (no pun intended)of NASCAR racing cars. I read where a doctors' conference highlighted the car in association with stressing the importance of men's sexual health. Go to www.nascar.com or google this car to find out more. This couple must have been Mark Martin fans and took no offense at whoever the sponsor was. I would have to agree that for whatever reason, men's sexual health is important. Anyone who is married to a prostate cancer survivor realizes how important men's and women's reproductive organs are in anyone's total health.

NASCAR is the perfect symbol of our cheerful self destruction. While global warming is getting worse, and pressure is growing for our leaders to reach a strong agreement in Copenhagen, millions of fans are cheering this extravagantly wasteful "sport".

D***it! Now I'll probably have to take my wife by the cemetery the next time we go to see our grandbaby. She's a BIG Mark Martin fan.
