I have written several times about the demise of microfilm. I was therefore very interested to learn of a new microfilm manufacturing facility to be built near Ypsilanti, Michigan. ProQuest plans to hire 30 new employees and transfer some others. While the facility will be new, it apparently is to replace an existing facility that will be closed.
The facility will consolidate microfilm manufacturing operations from a facility the company is shutting down in Ohio and relocate about 35 employees from a unit it operated in nearby Scio Township.
ProQuest acquired the microfilming assets in June from the former National Archive Publishing Co., now doing business under new ownership as NA Publishing.
