One of my favorite features of this newsletter is the comments section where readers may post comments, questions, or corrections about the articles published here. I consider it to be a valuable part of the newsletter's web site and I generally enjoy reading the comments posted.
Over the past few months, I have seen a major increase in spam-like messages posted that promote some service or product not related to the article to which it is attached. Likewise, I see people posting genealogy queries to articles that are not related to the families mentioned.
Finally, the comments section also seems to attract more and more personal attacks and name-calling in recent weeks.
Sorry folks, those are not the purposes of the comments section. Newsletter readers do not go to the comments section to read spam messages, off-topic queries, or childish name calling.
If you want to engage in name calling, personal attacks, or other schoolyard activities, please go find another web site.
If you want to plaster spam all over the place, please do the world a favor and flush yourself down a toilet.
If you have issues with an article, please contact me at http://blog.eogn.com/eastmans_online_genealogy//contact-us.html.
Just be civil and decent when posting comments. Disagreement and debate with your fellow readers is welcome, but I will swing the ban stick if I see conversations devolve into name calling, personal attacks, or posting of falsehoods. The golden rule continues to apply here.
