The National Archives has issued the following announcement:
“There will be a public meeting on Friday, January 29 at 1 PM to discuss how the National Archives meets the needs of the research community. This will not be a discussion of the details of the research room layout, but rather about researcher needs, and how to meet those needs. There will be a presentation, followed by an open discussion. The Archivist and Michael Kurtz will be the speakers, and David McMillen will moderate the program.”
Simply stated the National Archives is interested in hearing from the research community what it can do to make it easier for you to research at the National Archives. I have attended two meetings where the Archivist was present. In both cases he left me with the clear impression that he is willing to listen to researchers and he is open to suggestions on how to make our work easier and more productive in our search for our ancestors.
Please try to come to this meeting on Friday, January 29th at 1:00 pm in the researcher’s lobby on the first floor of the Pennsylvania Avenue side of the National Archives building.
