LDS Church apostle Dallin Oaks presented first lady Michelle Obama with a copy of her family's genealogy during a short visit to the White House on Wednesday.
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, a Nevada Democrat and a member of the Mormon church, arranged the meeting and accompanied Oaks and other LDS officials to a sit-down private visit with Mrs. Obama, where she received a copy her family's ancestral history.
Reid, Oaks and LDS Church President Thomas S. Monson met with President Obama in the Oval Office last July and presented him with a copy of his family's genealogy. In past years, the church has also presented similar genealogy gifts to Presidents Bill Clinton and George W. Bush.
