The El Paso and Mexico documents are important because “nearly everybody who came this far north went through those areas, so if people work back far enough they’re going to need to look at that information,” said senior librarian Greta Pullen.
The library also owns thousands of volumes on history and culture of New Mexico, the Southwest, Latin America, Mexico “and everywhere that Spain ever went,” to back up family searches, said Carlos Vasquez, director of the cultural center’s history and literary arts.
