It is with regret that I announce that Moorshead Magazines Ltd. has ended publication of Discovering Family History. It was not an easy decision, but the tough economic conditions of the last year have made it necessary for us to take this action. The last issue was March/April 2010. Although it was growing in popularity, it was not doing well-enough to make a significant contribution to the overall operation of the company. Our Family Chronicle and Internet Genealogy brands remain strong, and we will focus our efforts and resources on making these publications stronger. Going forward, we will be incorporating the "beginner-type" content from Discovering Family History into Family Chronicle and Internet Genealogy.
Current subscribers of Discovering Family History will begin to receive Family Chronicle, or if already a Family Chronicle subscriber, the opportunity to extend their Family Chronicle subscription on a pro-rated basis. Subscribers will be receiving the May/June 2010 issue of Family Chronicle with a letter explaining the options available to them. We encourage Discovering Family History subscribers to visit a special page on our website at http://discoveringfamilyhistory.com/options.htm, or to call our toll-free number at 1-888-326-2476 during regular business hours (8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m EDT Mon. to Thurs., and 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. EDT Friday).
Family Chronicle, the leader in "how-to" genealogy publishing will be entering its 15th year of publication in September 2010, and Internet Genealogy is now in its 5th year. We have always taken pride in our excellent customer service and we will continue that into the future. In closing I'd like to thank everyone including our readers, our authors and advertisers who supported Discovering Family History since its launch in May/June 2008 and hope for your continued support into the future.
