Apple’s iTunes Connect program has a section where authors can self-publish their work under certain formatting requirements, MacLife first reported. Basically, the books must be made in the ePub format like the rest of the offerings in the iBooks Store.
The agreement appears to be non-exclusive. That is, you can publish your book on the iPad platform and also publish it elsewhere using traditional publishing methods.
The self-publishing contract has rigid guidelines to lock out pornography, spam, and other inappropriate content. However, any bona fide genealogy publisher should be able to register within a few minutes at https://itunesconnect.apple.com/WebObjects/iTunesConnect.woa/wa/applyYou can read more at http://www.maclife.com/article/news/apple_reveals_new_service_authors_sell_their_books_directly_ibookstore
