The iPad is the handheld computer that has generated so much publicity and interest in recent weeks. The Apple iPad will run genealogy programs, word processing programs and web browsers, and it will play games, music, and movies, and much, much more. This portable powerhouse works with any modern Windows or Macintosh computer. You can read my recent articles about the exciting iPad handheld computer by starting at http://www.google.com/search?ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=iPad&domains=eogn.com&sitesearch=eogn.com&btnG=+Google+Search+

The grand prize winner of this contest will be awarded a brand-new, one-and-a-half pound, 16–gigabyte, non-3G iPad computer with a retail value of $499! That winner will also be awarded a TWO YEAR free subscription to Eastman's Online Genealogy Newsletter - Plus Edition, valued at $39.90.
Two runner-up winners will each be awarded one-year free subscriptions to the Plus Edition of Eastman's Online Genealogy Newsletter.
About www.GenQueries.com
To enter the contest, all you need to do is enter a genealogy query, an advertisement for a genealogy service or product, or an announcement of a future genealogy event, at http://www.GenQueries.com.
www.GenQueries.com is a web site that provides free online genealogy queries. Genealogists are invited to use the www.GenQueries.com service for genealogy queries and for advertisements for societies, professional and amateur genealogy researchers, authors, publishers, genealogy web sites, adoptee searches, and more.
www.GenQueries.com is a site that I created a few months ago, and it has already received nearly a thousand queries. However, I would like to see that number rise to several tens of thousands. In order to create awareness of this new online service and to encourage genealogists to enter queries, I will award a new Apple iPad to one lucky genealogist who posts at least one query or advertisement at http://www.GenQueries.com.
Details
There are no fees involved. www.GenQueries.com is a FREE site. You may enter the contest without payment of any sort.
Contestants may enter more than once. However, each person will only be counted once for entry into the contest. For instance, if you enter ten queries, you will only be entered into the contest once. There is no advantage to entering the same query multiple times or even to entering multiple queries. A person who enters one query will have the same odds of winning as someone who enters multiple queries.
Any creative person who is caught “padding the entries” in any manner to increase their odds of winning will immediately be disqualified. While you are encouraged to enter more than one query, any “imaginative games” using multiple email addresses, multiple I.P. addresses, or any other tricks to “fool the system” will cause immediate disqualification. Let's all play fair.
This contest starts retroactively on the site's creation date of September 18, 2009. If you have already entered at least one query, an advertisement for a genealogy service or product, or an announcement of a future event at http://www.GenQueries.com, you are already entered in the contest! If you have not yet entered anything at www.GenQueries.com, you can do so now.
If the grand prize winner or any of the runner-up winners already subscribe to the Plus Edition of Eastman's Online Genealogy Newsletter, that present subscription will be EXTENDED by the appropriate number of months.
The winners will be contacted by email, so the email addresses attached to each query must be correct and current. Winners must respond to the email message within seven days (by 12 midnight Eastern Daylight Savings Time on June 19, 2010).
NOTE: Email addresses on www.GenQueries.com are not visible to other users, but they are visible to me as the system administrator. You may enter a genealogy query, an advertisement for a genealogy service or product, or an announcement of a future event. In fact, you may enter all of those. Again, multiple entries will only be counted one time.
Off-topic entries not related to genealogy queries, products, services, or events will be deleted and will be grounds for disqualification. No spam!
Selection of the winners will be random, using software that examines all entries in the GenQueries.com database, looking at email addresses and I.P. addresses. The software discards duplicate entries and then selects a winner at random. The NAME of the winner will not be visible to the selection process! The initial announcement may only list the winners' email addresses. Names might not be added to that announcement until the winners reply and identify themselves.
The contest is limited to contestants in the United States or Canada for several reasons, not the least of which is that the iPad is not yet available in many countries. We cannot award a locally-configured iPad with the proper electrical connectors, software, and local language for countries outside of North America. Awarding a North American version of the iPad to anyone outside of North America also appears to be a violation of Apple's licensing agreement.
Canadian winners will be responsible for payment of import duties, if any.
Decisions of the judge (that's me) will be final.
The iPad is already here in my closet. I look forward to awarding it to some lucky genealogist.
