(May 10, 2010) – At the opening session of its annual conference in Salt Lake City, April 18- May 1, the National Genealogical Society presented the NGS President’s Citation to Peter E. Broadbent, Jr., J.D., of Richmond, VA. The President’s Citation is given in recognition of outstanding, continuing, or unusual contributions to the field of genealogy or to the Society.
Broadbent received the award in appreciation of his seven years service on the NGS Board of Directors and for his wise counsel on numerous issues that came before the board. Broadbent is listed in Who’s Who in America, 2008-2010. He is former Chairman of the Library of Virginia Board; former President, Virginia Genealogical Society; former Governor, Virginia Society of Colonial Wars; President, 2004 Virginia Electoral College; former Chairman, Virginia State Bar’s Business Law Section, and of its Public Information Committee; and a member of the Virginia War of 1812 Bicentennial Commission.
