Success! Clayton Library Hours are to be Increased

In the April 07, 2010 newsletter, I posted an article about a planned reduction in the operational hours of the Clayton Library for Genealogical Research in Houston, Texas. The proposed cuts were drastic.

Today, Toby Turner sent the following good news:
The lobbying efforts were successful and as of July 2, the Clayton Library for Genealogical Research will be open Saturdays, but closed Mondays. This will enable out-of-town visitors to use the library more easily. Their website doesn't show this, but a recent email from them reported:

Clayton Library hours change, effective July 1, 2010
Clayton Library hours will change effective Thursday, July 1, 2010.

The new hours are as follows:
Monday: closed
Tuesday, Thursday: 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM
Wednesday: 10:00 AM - 8:00 PM
Friday, Saturday: 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Hooray for the Clayton Friends.
