I wish they would put some money toward upkeep and display in the current facility. I was there in the fall of 2008 and was disgusted with the condition of the main building. Display cases were empty, unlit, mislabeled and dirty (these exact same cases had been empty since my last trip there 10 months before). The entire building was disgustingly dirty. The luggage display in the main room extremely dusty, the floors were filthy, and the glass on the displays were covered with dirt and fingerprints. I was there the month of October and to say I left thoroughly depressed is putting it mildly. The management should be embarrassed at these conditions. They are the holders of our history and need to keep it in better condition. Where do the management dollars go?? BellaSera

I visited Ellis Island July 16, 2010. I applaud the National Park Service for its excellent job in maintaining this beautiful and moving site. Everything was well organized, from allowing tickets to be purchased online, getting hundreds of visitors on and off the boat, providing an on-site library to help people find ancestors who arrived on the island, the Wall of Honor, and to the many display cases and exhibits that tell the story of immigrants. I'm delighted my tax dollar helps support this magnificent historical site.
