Today I downloaded and installed a new iPhone application created by Pattie Schultz: Everyday Genealogy. This cute desk calendar provides a genealogy tip a day. It also allows you to bookmark dates of interest and to research off that list. Finally, the program maintains a "genealogy to-do list."
Installation was simple, the same as any other iPhone application. Tap APP Store, search for Everyday Genealogy and then tap the price of $3.99 to purchase the application. The entire process required only a few seconds.
When launched, Everyday Genealogy displays a monthly calendar with today's date highlighted. Below that, a "genealogy tip of the day" is displayed. Some days displays research suggestions, other days it may be a mention of a genealogy reference book that may be of use. The program does not look at your genealogy data so the suggestions are not based on your reseaarch efforts. You can move from day to day by tapping the appropriate date on the calendar. The calendar also has icons to move from month to month.
An icon at the bottom center of the iPhone or iPad's display shows a list of notes, or "To-Do items." Another icon to the right opens a screen to enter new items on the list or to edit existing items.
The program is simple to use and and can be handy to maintain your "genealogy to-do list." Everyday Genealogy is designed primarily for the iPhone but will also operate on an iPad in 2X mode.
You can purchase Everyday Genealogy for $3.99 by tapping the App Store icon and then searching for: Everyday Genealogy
