Joyce M. Tice, of the rural village in Sullivan Township, New York, is a Tioga County resident who has maintained and developed a 17,000-page genealogical website for the Northern Tier counties of Tioga and Bradford, as well as Chemung County, N.Y., for 15 years.
Starting in 1996, before anyone else was doing online genealogy, Tice became a "pioneer" in the Internet genealogy field. It still costs users nothing to use her site, www.joycetice.com, which continually is being updated with records of births and obituaries as they become available.

As if that wasn't enough, in 2003, she opened a barn on her property to become a museum, which she describes as an extension of the website. People from all over the area bring her their items of historical significance, she said.
The museum is open by appointment only.
