Starting in 1996, before anyone else was doing online genealogy, Tice became a "pioneer" in the Internet genealogy field. It still costs users nothing to use her site, www.joycetice.com, which continually is being updated with records of births and obituaries as they become available.
As if that wasn't enough, in 2003, she opened a barn on her property to become a museum, which she describes as an extension of the website. People from all over the area bring her their items of historical significance, she said.
The museum is open by appointment only.
