UPDATE: The sale was available when I wrote this article an hour ago. Now the web site says, "Currently out of stock."
I can't say that I am surprised. That's a great price. It's no wonder they sold out quickly.
UPDATE #2: A 1 terabyte Seagate external hard drive is available from BestBuy for $50. See http://news.cnet.com/8301-13845_3-20023930-58.html?tag=nl.e796 for details.
In the nearly 15 years I have been publishing this newsletter, I think I have written the following statement at least twenty times: "Prices of disk storage continue to drop." Indeed, the price of storing megabytes or even gigabytes of information has dropped rapidly ever since the first computers appeared. The trend isn't slowing down. If anything, it is accelerating.
Western Digital is the second largest computer hard disk drives manufacturer in the world, (after Seagate) and offers excellent warranties. Staples also offers the company's own "return it if you are not satisfied" guarantee. This is not a no-name product sold at some discount store.
The sale is for today and tomorrow only (November 28 and 29). You can read more at http://goo.gl/1WzrD
Now you can back up your genealogy files, family photographs, and everything else!
