Magazine publishing is a financially difficult business, and specialty genealogy magazines are no exception. In the U.S. and Canada, we have seen the demise of Ancestry Magazine, Everton's Genealogical Helper, Heritage Quest, Genealogical Computing, and Discovering Family History magazines within the past two or three years. Now one of Great Britain's genealogy magazines is also calling it quits.
Writing in the Scottish GENES (GEnealogy News and EventS) blog, Chris M Paton has announced:
It is with a great deal of sadness that I have to announce that ABM Publishing has decided to cancel its long running magazine, Practical Family History, after the December issue, following a poor year in what has become an increasingly difficult trading environment.

The same publisher, ABM Publishing, will apparently continue with "Britain's oldest and best selling family history publication" Family Tree Magazine.
