A broken water pipe has soaked some historical documents at the state archives building in Juneau. State Archivist Dean Dawson says a four-inch water system pipe cracked in the second floor stack area, and water flowed down the aisles and then down a stairway. About 10 boxes of archival material on the loading dock got wet, including the Territorial Governor General's correspondence from the 1920s.
Dawson says he expects a salvage operation to be successful.
