The Charlotte County Genealogical Society is hosting a one-day conference on Saturday, February 5. The theme will be "Update Your Genealogy Toolbox." The society has invited me to be the guest speaker. I will be making presentations on:
Genealogy Searches on Google
The Organized Genealogist
The Latest Technology for Genealogists
Where is Genealogy Software Headed?
The conference will be held at the Salvation Army Center at 2120 Loveland Boulevard, Port Charlotte. Doors open at 8 am with the first presentation starting at 9 am.
The fee is $30 for Charlotte County Genealogical Society members, $35 for non-members. Those prices include lunch. Non-members are especially invited. Registration is absolutely REQUIRED. There will be no walk-ins. Pre-registration forms must be received by January 26, 2011.
You can find more information on the society's web page at http://www.ccgsi.org/
I am looking forward to this trip for a couple of reasons. First, I always enjoy a mid-winter trip to Florida. Second, I was scheduled to present at this same society last February and had airline reservations to fly to Florida the day before the conference. However, a major blizzard snarled airline traffic all up and down the east coast, and I never made it. This year, I have a reservation for a flight several days in advance; so, a new blizzard might be inconvenient, but it shouldn't stop me. Even if the weather delays me, I should still be there by the 5th. If I do arrive a few days early, I'll just have to find something to do in sunny Florida!
I suspect this will be a fun conference. I know that I am looking forward to it. If you would like to join us, go to http://www.ccgsi.org/ and download a registration form. Fill it in and mail it in time to arrive before January 26.
I'll see you in sunny (?) Florida!
