Syracuse, New York has a new location for genealogists to access millions of microfilms: the Central Onondaga County Public Library at 447 S. Salina Street in Syracuse. The library is now the newest FamilySearch affiliate. The affiliation gives researchers access to billions of birth, marriage, death, census and other records from more than 130 countries.
According FamilySearch, fewer than 5% of the world’s genealogical records are available online. Researchers who can’t travel to find original records they need will be able to order a microfilmed copy of the documents to use in the library for $6. The library staff can help patrons see what films are available, place film orders, and answer research questions. More information is available by calling the library at 315-435-1900, or by visiting the Web site www.onlib.org.
