Ancestry.co.uk today announced the launch of its new app for iPad, iPod Touch, and iPhone handheld computers. The company previously has produced a product for the US-based Ancestry.com but the new offering is tailored for U.K. users. The company's announcement states:
The Ancestry app is built specifically to deliver a compelling tablet experience, which comes to life on iPad’s large screen where users can build multi-generational family trees complete with images of original family records and photos, making the iPad a powerful tool to display and share trees with family and friends in an interactive, highly visual way – no matter where you are.
A scaled down version for the iPhone and Touch, which includes features for navigating a family tree and viewing records already attached to a tree, is also available for free on the iTunes App Store.
Introducing Ancestry.co.uk onto this compelling platform takes the website one step closer to its mission of helping everyone discover, preserve and share their family history.
Olivier van Calster, VP of Ancestry International, comments: “Macs and iPads both have a highly interactive interface, making them ideal not only for conducting and uploading family history research, but also for sharing it with others.
The new Ancestry.co.uk app is now available in the iPhone App Store.
