Youwho is an Internet startup that is very much in stealth mode. Most people have never heard of it. However, an SEC filing reveals the company has raised $5 million in funding and that one of the co-founders is a man well known in genealogy circles: Andre Brummer, former Senior Vice-President of Product at MyFamily.com (now known as Ancestry.com).
The SEC filing says the company's tagline is “providing an on-line searchable database in the field of genealogy and family history.”
The new company's web site at http://www.youwho.com/ provides very little information but does say:
"Youwho is a new kind of family history resource.
"Gone (soon) are the days of complicated tools and frustrating searches for your ancestors and their information. youwho is a service created to help you find, enjoy and share your family history. Discovering your heritage just got personal—and fun!"
The company is also hiring, according to the jobs listing at http://www.youwho.com/jobs.htm
The company's mailing address is 2910 Foothill Dr. Provo, Utah 84604, according to SandHill.com at http://www.sandhill.com/finance/detail_vc.php?id=5182
This should be an interesting company to watch.
My thanks to Rick Koelz for telling me about the SEC filing.
