Here is a great project. I wish more societies would undertake projects like this! If they did, we would all benefit.
The West Valley Genealogical Society Library in Youngtown, Arizona (www.azwvgs.org) holds an obituary database of over 50,000 obituaries. The earliest data is from 1957 with the greatest number starting in the 1970s through this year. The obituaries are from the Sun City area, Surprise, Good Year, Glendale, Peoria, Avondale, Youngtown and Wickenburg. The obituaries are primarily from the western part of the Valley of the Sun in Arizona – Phoenix.
The database has now been placed online at http://www.azwvgs.org/WVGSOBITS.htm and is available for searching at no charge. Copies of the obituaries are available at a nominal cost.
My thanks to Dee Snook for telling me about this great new online resource.
