Wouldn't you like to trigger your camera with your iPhone? Triggertrap Mobile is an iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch application that turns your device into a smart camera trigger capable of making your camera take a photo at exactly the right moment. If you have ever wanted a remote shutter control cable or perhaps wanted to shoot time lapse photos or add any of several other advanced features to your digital SLR camera, Triggertrap Mobile may be the application for you.
Triggertrap Mobile works with any of more than 300 supported cameras. The list includes most digital SLR cameras as well as a number of lower-priced "pocket cameras," although not all of them. If you don't want to control an external camera, the app can also be used to trigger the internal camera in the iPhone or other iOS5 device
For any cameras other than the iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch devices, you also need to purchase and use a $9.99 "dongle" plus a cable to connect your device to the camera.
Triggertrap Mobile enables you to take photos using 12 different triggering modes, many of which are activated by sensors in your iPhone or iPad. The available methods include two never-before-seen ways of triggering a camera (at least in a consumer device), Distance-Lapse and Eased Timelapse. Distance-Lapse uses the GPS capability of your iPhone or iPad to take photos at regular distance intervals, this means resulting movies look like the entire journey was conducted at exactly the same speed. Eased Timelapse sees your camera triggered at intervals according to mathematical formulas to give the appearance of time speeding up or slowing down.
The different modes include:
- Timelapse
- Eased timelapse
- Sound sensor
- Shock & Vibration sensor
- Metal & magnetism sensor
- Facial recognition
- LE HDR
- LE HDR Timelapse mode
- Distance-lapse mode
- Motion detection mode
- Cable Release mode
- Star trail mode
Explanations of each mode are available on the TriggerTrap web site at https://triggertrap.com/products/triggertrap-mobile/.
The Triggertrap Mobile software is available in the iTunes App Store for US$9.99 and the dongle and camera connection cables are available from the Triggertrap website at https://triggertrap.com/products/triggertrap-mobile/ for $9.99 for the dongle alone, or $19.95 for a dongle plus a cable.
