On Tuesday, I will fly to Birmingham, Alabama to attend this week's conference of the Federation of Genealogical Societies, co-sponsored by the Alabama Genealogical Society. This year's conference will have a theme of Indians, Squatters, Settlers and Soldiers in the "Old Southwest." I wrote about that conference earlier at http://goo.gl/ypPf9 and again later at http://goo.gl/NDMrU. If you are thinking of attending this great conference, you might want to read those earlier articles.
I was in Birmingham three weeks ago and left my motor home there in an RV resort. I flew home to find cooler weather. I will move back into the motor home Tuesday evening and will remain in town for about a week, then will move to Florida to prepare for the next few events I will attend.
I hope to publish daily reports from the FGS conference and especially from the EOGN Dinner being held on Saturday evening. I'll be traveling with two laptop computers, two 4G/3G wireless modems, and wi-fi capability. I should have connectivity!
Despite the online access most everywhere, please do not be surprised if I miss a day or two of new articles from time to time. While I should have connectivity most everywhere, I often find that I do not have time! That is especially true when I am at conferences for twelve or fourteen hours a day or when driving cross-country for the same number of hours.
I expect to be back home September 8 and then will make other trips around the country, giving presentations at various conferences. I'd love to see you at any of these presentations! To see my schedule, look at most any page on this newsletter's web site at http://www.eogn.com and scroll down the menus along the right side of the page. Click on Meet Dick Eastman in Person.
Some of my trips will be by airline while others will be in the motor home. I'll also be living in the motor home off and on through the autumn, winter and spring. I expect to write about my travels and challenges in my motor home blog at http://rv.dickeastman.com/.
