November 1, 2012—The Dallas Genealogical Society (DGS) announces the launch of its new scholarly journal, Pegasus: Journal of the Dallas Genealogical Society.
This is the first known society journal to pay authors for published material. The first issue will be published in spring 2013, and the DGS Publications Committee is actively seeking articles.
Articles may be submitted by members and non-members of DGS, both hobbyists and professionals. Articles may not have been previously published elsewhere.
There will be two categories of publication: regular issues that feature research articles (case studies, methodologies, family genealogies); and special issues that feature transcriptions, abstracts, or indexes of records not yet filmed, digitized, or published elsewhere (cemeteries, bibles, civil, religious, and business groups).
Guidelines for submission and payment terms can be found at: http://dallasgenealogy.org/DGS_Docs/Temporary/PegasusWritersGuidelines.pdf
Pegasus will also offer the opportunity for professionals to promote their skills and for genealogical societies to feature their programs in a sponsorship section. Single issue rates are:
