Disclaimer: I don't use the same methods that Adam uses. Since my different system already works well for me, I won't be switching to his methods. However, his methods obviously work well for him and I suspect they will work for others as well.
Unlike Adam, I use a variety of scanners, even including my cell phone's camera. In my mind, the hardware isn't important. I focus more on WHERE the scanned images reside, how they are processed, and how they are backed up in multiple places. I also can retrieve any document within seconds at any time, where ever I am, on my desktop computer, on my laptop, or on my cell phone.
Adam's method meets all those criteria, as does mine. You might choose a third method but still use Adam's article and mine for a few ideas.
